The easy-to-use online design tool is perfect for simple, inexpensive designs.design your own sign

No matter how you choose to create your sign, we want you to be happy, so here’s a word of warning: Sometimes, what you see on a screen isn’t what the printer puts out, and it may not look the same 50 feet away. To make sure your design looks as good as it does on your computer screen, here are a few design tips to consider.

Color – Contrasting colors are easy on the eyes, and easy to distinguish from farther distances. But, not just any pair of opposite colors will work – red and green are complementary colors on the color wheel, but using red text on a green background will be unreadable. Your best option is to use complementary and analogous colors in the background and either white text on a dark background, or black text on a light background.

Font – Choose a font that is easy to read from a long distance, not too thin and evenly spaced. Avoid fonts in cursive or that have decorative curls or embellishments. If you use a serif font, be sure the letters are spaced well so the serifs (the little “feet” on the letters) don’t touch other letters. Sans-serif fonts like Arial and Helvetica will be the most versatile and easy to read.

Images – Remember in last month’s newsletter the article about JPEGs and vectors? This is when you apply it to your sign design. If you choose to use a photo, be sure the resolution is 300 DPI. Your best option is to use a vector, whether it’s your logo, an illustration or a shape is up to you.

Size – Before you select a size, take a look at the location you’re going to place the sign and measure the area to see what will fit and look the best. If your sign is going on a wall or standing alone, use paper or tape to make sure the size and proportions are correct. Don’t forget about distance – how far away can someone be to still read your sign? Here’s a handy letter size guide:

What is a company store?
SHOP Sign-A-Rama Company Stores are essentially online portals, which hold templates for signage and promotional items for easy customization by users. You decide to whom you provide access. You can create your own template or have us do the design work. When a user needs a sign, they select the appropriate template to create a sign specific to their needs while maintaining your brand. The sign is shipped directly to the address the user provides.

A Company Store is ideal for companies with multiple locations, real estate agents, construction companies or any business that needs frequent and consistent signage orders.
